The Miniature Student Room in the 1990s

1990s, 1:10 scale

University of Tartu Museum - Permanent Exhibition “The University of Our Lives” 2019

This miniature set depicts a University of Tartu student room in the 1990s, a time when four students often shared a single space. Life was marked by scarcity, but also by freedom, rebellion, and creativity. The room reflects the spirit of the era — walls covered in doodles and graffiti, traces of punk culture, and an atmosphere of resistance against conformity. Beyond being a living space, it was a canvas for youthful expression and the search for identity.

The piece transforms everyday nostalgia into a tangible miniature world, allowing viewers to step into the energy and struggles of 1990s student life.
