The Miniature Farm of the Poluverniks

19th century

Alutaguse National Park Visitor Centre - Permanent Exhibition "Treasures of Alutaguse National Park" 2021

This handcrafted miniature diorama recreates a late 19th-century Poluvernik farm in rural Estonia, depicting the traditional way of life of this distinctive community in the Iisaku region.

The scene features the main farmhouse, storehouse, and sauna situated along a riverbank, surrounded by the natural landscape that shaped everyday rural life. Timber rafting on the river adds movement to the scene and reflects the close relationship between local livelihoods and the surrounding forests and waterways.
